Import and Supply of Medical Preparations

the most representative trade associations in this country whose members are concerned in the distribution of all kinds of drugs, chemicals and pharmaceutical preparations which are imported into India from the United Kingdom and the United States of America which are the only sources of supply for the Indian market under the present circumstances of war. For some time past on account of the frequent shortages of many of the essential medicinal supplies, our member firms, who have established such long and cordial connections with the medical profession, some of them for over half a century, are coming in for a great deal of unpleasantness with their medical friends. Whilst my committee is sure our medical friends do appreciate that a number of difficulties confront our member firms these days in the matter of obtaining adequate supplies of drugs and medicines, it occurs to them that many physicians may not be conversant with all the factors responsible. Under the circumstances, my committee feel that in addition to expressing regrets on behalf of our members for not being able to take care of all the needs of the medical profession, we owe something in the nature of an explanation for the present unsatisfactory stock situation.
